Known as the “Racing Capital of the World”, Speedway is a separate town within Marion County. However, despite the town being only 7 miles from the center of The Circle City, it still maintains independence with its own police and fire departments, Town Hall, public library, utilities departments, and school system. Unlike many of Indianapolis’ surrounding communities, Speedway has a growing number of single residents and many of its homes were built in the 1960s and 1970s.

Speedway is a separate city in Marion County located in Wayne Township. It is known for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race; the Brickyard 400; and the United States Grand Prix. The City of Speedway is located seven miles from Indianapolis and six miles from the Indianapolis International Airport.
